Greene county band to appear as guests

EATON — On Sunday, July 8, the Eaton Area Community Band will welcome fellow band members from the Greene County Civic Band in a combined concert at 4 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center. This concert is the result of a long-time friendship between the two directors: Tad Stewart, retired band director of the Eaton Community Schools, and David Leapley, also a retired band director who now teaches at Wittenburg.

Each band will perform several selections, and then the two groups, numbering about 100 players, will combine for two very exciting final selections.

The idea of combining groups started about six years ago, with the Eaton band and the Troy Civic Band performing together both here and at Troy. For the last five years, the EACB has also done a combined concert with the Ohio Valley British Brass Band in the Spring. On July 15, the EACB will travel to Troy for the final concert of the summer with the Troy Civic Band.
