Bids for Preble County Landfill opened

EATON — The Preble County Commissioners opened four bids for construction of the new building and scale project at the Preble County Sanitary Landfill during a meeting on Monday, Nov. 2.

Acron Builders, based in Arcanum, submitted a $1,221,190 base bid for the project along with 20 alternate bids.

Jess Construction, also based in Arcanum, submitted a base bid of $1,058,700 for the project. Prime and Cook based in Dayton, submitted a base bid of $1,286,599 while Emon LLC in Maple Heights submitted a base bid of $1,290,000.

Commissioner Chris Day said the bids will go to Preble County Sanitary Engineer Randy Gilbert for further evaluations before a decision is reached on which company will be awarded the project.

Commissioners also noted receipt of a public petition for the vacation of alleys in the hamlet of Hamburg in Eldorado. A public hearing will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at 1 p.m. and on Wednesday Dec. 16, at 9 a.m.

The resignation of Frank House from the Zoning Board and Appeals Board was accepted by commissioners.

Commissioners noted receipt of a letter from Preble County Engineer Kyle Cross promoting Rick Keener to the Deputy Engineer position.

Commissioners also accepted the resignation of Jonathon Price from the Preble County Board of Developmental Disabilities.

Commissioners also noted receipt from Judge Overmyer stating employee Audra Gray is leaving her position with Juvenile Court.

In other business:

Commissioners approved an expenditure of $5,593 for the purchase of a new color copier through state purchasing for Soldiers Relief.

Commissioners noted receipt and signed a letter of approval for a contract with Doss Business and Job and Family Services for $2,500 for telephone maintenance.

Commissioners noted receipt of and signed approval for an amendment for software maintenance with Court View Justice Solutions for court computerization at the Preble County Clerk of Courts, for $3,000.

Commissioners noted receipt and signed approval for an agreement between the Common Pleas Court and Dolby and Company for sound system maintenance.

Preble County Commissioners meet every Monday and Wednesday, at 9 a.m. at the Preble County Courthouse.
