West Sonora public hearing held

EATON — A public hearing on vacating a West Sonora alley was held during the Preble County Commissioners’ meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

James Simmons, Drainage Tech with the Preble County Engineer’s Office, updated the commissioners and those in attendance on the project.

“The only thing that the Engineer’s Office brings is, we think it is a great idea to vacate these alleys. In the interest of all of the parties involved, it would be beneficial to all of them — the township and resident owners,” Simmons said.

Also during the meeting, the commissioners noted receipt and considered approval of the Marcs Radios intergovernmental agreement between the Board of Preble County Commissioners and the Board of Dark County Commissioners.

“If you’ll remember, EMA got some radios from the state. This is where Darke County got extra ones and they are giving the ownership over to us,” Commissioner Chris Day said.

In other business, it was reported commission staff has been receiving revised budgets from the various offices the commissioners manage. This included two different budgets from the Preble County Sheriff’s Office.

It was also noted, the commissioners will be holding a mandatory training on social media. One representative from each office must be in attendance on Friday, Nov. 30. Administrative Assistant Kim Keller reminded the board that they had asked a group in to hold this training. She worried that without making it mandatory, the attendance would be low. The commissioners agreed it should be mandatory.
