New Paris resident arrested for drug trafficking

EATON — A New Paris woman faces charges including drug trafficking after she sold suspected meth to Preble County investigators.

Preble County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Kelly Cox, 58, of New Paris, after purchasing methamphetamine from her in Eaton, according to Sheriff Mike Simpson.

”On Nov. 29, investigators conducted a controlled buy of suspected methamphetamine from Cox, age 58,” Simpson reported. “After the purchase was completed, deputies stopped the vehicle that Cox was in. Cox was observed attempting to conceal additional drugs.”

According to Simpson, deputies recovered approximately 1.8 ounces of suspected methamphetamine from Cox.

“This includes the amount purchased as well as the additional amount in the vehicle,” Simpson reported. “Street value of the drugs is suspected to be approximately $3,500.”

Cox was housed in the Preble County Jail the evening of Thursday, Nov. 29.

A Preble County grand jury indicted Cox on the following charges on Monday, Dec. 3: aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony, and trafficking in drugs, a third-degree felony.

Cox remained in the Preble County Jail, at press time Monday, Dec. 10.
