PREBLE COUNTY — Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson has placed Preble County under a Level 2 snow emergency effective at 9:45 p.m. today (Saturday, Jan. 19).

Heavy snow and high winds are making travel extremely hazardous and visibility is near zero in most areas, according to Simpson.

A Level 2 snow emergency means that roadways are hazardous due to increasing amounts of snow on roadways. Only those who feel it necessary to drive should be out on the roadways, according to Simpson.

Simpson said people should contact their employer to see if they should report to work.

“Obviously, if you are driving, use extreme caution,” Simpson said.

Additional snow and high winds are expected throughout the night.
