EATON — A double shooting on Saturday, Jan. 19, is being investigated as a murder/suicide, according to Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson.

On Saturday, Jan. 19, at approximately 10:30 p.m., PCSO deputies responded to 180 West Lakengren Drive, in the gated community of Lakengren, regarding a welfare check.

A family member had contacted the Sheriff’s Office, stating a brother could not be contacted and had not reported to work as scheduled that evening, Simpson reported.

Deputies arrived and discovered an adult male deceased on a lower level of the house, as well as an adult female deceased on the upper level. The male was found with two gunshot wounds. The female was found to have what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Simpson.

The preliminary investigation found the decedents were married, and both reside at the residence.

The couple was identified as Bradley D. Creech, 56, and Susan K. Creech, 55.

Investigators from the PCSO and the Preble County Coroner’s Office spent several hours processing the scene. Both decedents were removed to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office in Dayton, where autopsies were conducted on Sunday, Jan. 20.

“This case is being investigated as a murder/suicide,” Simpson said in a prerss release. “Investigators are continuing their investigation into the incident. Evidence gathered at the scene will be submitted to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) Crime Lab in London.”

The case remains under investigation by the PCSO and the Preble County Coroner’s Office.
