PREBLE COUNTY — Preble County Retired Teachers Association recently held its first meeting of the year.

Vice President Bob Fox welcomed 28 members and guests to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Ingomar on April 9. A meal was served, door prizes were awarded, and members contributed to the “Tools for Schools” initiative.

The musical program was presented by the West Elkton Arrow Ensemble, under the direction of Cody McPherson. This group of 20 fourth through sixth graders entertained the group with xylophone and drum selections.

Committee reports were presented. Among the highlights: Preble County Schools anticipate only three retirements for 2019. PCRTA currently has 192 members, and those in attendance were urged to encourage others to attend. Six members who volunteered 300-plus hours in 2018 were recognized and will be awarded a free meal: Brenda Wright, Sheryl Mabry, Betty Brenner, Barb Cox, Phyllis Wesler and Gleneeda Hoy.

In other business, it was reported PCRTA scholarships in the amount $500 will be awarded to two scholarship applicants. The recipients will be invited to attend the next meeting, to be held June 11.

All retired teachers and school personnel are invited to attend. More info and photos are available at PCRTA.org.
