American Legion

Steak Fry is Saturday, May 11 from 5-7 p.m.

Rock the Jukebox Friday, May 17, at 7 p.m. with a Mexican carry-in meal and specialty margaritas.

Memorial Day Service on Sunday, May 26, will be starting at 8 a.m. with a 21-gun salute at the cemeteries as scheduled. Wreath/Deck ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Hall. Memorial Day Service at Fairview at 2 p.m. with lunch and fellowship following at 3 p.m. at Post 322. (Order of cemeteries: Salem Lutheran Church, Sugar Hill, Sugar Grove, Shiloh, Enterprise, Twin Valley, Wheatville and Preble Memory Gardens.

Euchre and Ladies Night every Wednesday evening. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and Euchre starts at 7 p.m. with a 50/50 raffle. Sr. Fun Bunch meets every Thursday from 1-4 p.m. for music and dancing, at 1477 Ohio 503 South.

SAL Golf Tourney: get your foursome registered for Sunday, May 19, at Highland Golf Course in Indiana, at $200 per team.

Smoked Chicken or BBQ Pork Chop Dinners

The West Alexandria Celebration Committee is selling Smoked Chicken or BBQ Pork Chop Dinners on Sunday, May 19, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at 73 N. Main Street, next to Subway. All funds raised from this fundraiser will be used to help pay for toys purchased for Santa Villa and the July 4 fireworks. Food prepared by Hog Wild Smokehouse Ribs. Half a smoked chicken with dinner roll, applesauce and choice of green beans or baked beans is $7. A 3/4 lb. smoked pork chop with dinner roll, applesauce and choice of green beans or baked beans is $8. Orders need to be placed by May 13, to ensure you get a dinner. Any extra meals are sold on a first-come first-serve basis. Orders may be called into Carol Lunsford at 839-4085 with your order, name and phone number.

Downtown Saturday Nights

The West Alexandria Celebration Committee is sponsoring Downtown Saturday Nights the third Saturday of each month, starting May 18, from 5-9 p.m.. There will be vendors set up in the parking lot across from the Town Hall, and we encourage everyone to visit the businesses in town, as well. These Downtown Saturday Nights will continue every third Saturday through October from 5-9 p.m.. There will be no Farmers Markets this season.

BINGO

The West Alexandria Fire Dept. BINGO is held every Thursday. Doors open at 5 p.m. with open seating; no RSVP, just first come first served. Early Bird Games start at 6 p.m. to help those coming after work. Kid-friendly atmosphere, but all players must be 18 or over. We have several progressive games going on at 25 E. Dayton Street.

Church of the Brethren

Free community meals are the first Wednesday of every month; next on May 1, from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Church of the Brethren, 22 East Oak St. West Alexandria.

Salem Lutheran

Salem Annual Mother Daughter Banquet is scheduled for Friday, May 10, at 6p.m. Ticket prices are: children $4.25, adults $8.25.

The Health Ministry will do blood pressure screenings the fourth Sunday of each month, next on May 26. Participants will receive a blood pressure log with current follow-up recommendations, lifestyle modifications and recommendations. Information on blood pressure and strokes is also available.

Coups for Troops is accepting your unwanted and recently expired coupons in the church library. Coupons up to two months expired are accepted at military commissaries.
