EATON — In an organizational city council meeting, Dave Kirsch was elected to replace Gary Wagner as mayor while Craig Moormeier was re-elected vice mayor, both in a unanimous decision on Monday, Dec. 7.

“I feel very honored and very humbled. Honored in the fashion that I get to be part of following some of the great leaders we’ve had up here,” said Kirsch after being approved for the 2016 appointment. “I look at Bob Stonecash and Gary Wagner, I served under both those appointments and I tell you what, they set the bar and they set it pretty darn high.”

In his first order of business as the Eaton mayor, Kirsch accepted the resignation of Renner from the planning, zoning, and building board. His vacated seat will be filled by Wagner for an unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2017.

In the same resolution, Renner was then appointed as a council representative to the planning, zoning, and building board for a one-year term ending Dec. 31, 2016.

It passed in a unanimous decision.

Kirsch stated that he is looking forward to serving the people of Eaton and continuing the already-high standard that comes with the position.

“I’m excited for what’s coming ahead for the community here. I can’t help but not think that we are going to do good things,” he said. “We have a great team, we have a great staff, and I’m very proud to be your mayor. We’re going to have some fun too.”
