EATON — Ohio State Fire Marshal Jeff Hussey attended the Preble County Fire and EMS Chiefs Association meeting on Wednesday, May 22, to update county chiefs on happenings at the state level. He also reported on services available to Preble County personnel.

With him was Code Enforcement Bureau Chief Allan Smith, District Chief Jason Corwin, and State Inspector Leeann Mathews.

During the meeting, Hussey spoke about Ohio Fire Academy, code enforcement, investigations (fire and explosion), BUSTR (under ground tanks,) fire prevention, and forensic lab. All these services are provided from the state of Ohio.

“All these resources are very vital to all of us in Preble County. Whether it be a fire to be investigated or a simple question, they are there for all of us. What’s even more impressive is that we have three members of the Division of the State Fire Marshal’s office living in Preble County,” West Alexandria Fire Chief Jeff Shafer said. “Garrick Sweet of the Fire and Explosion Division, Allan Smith the Bureau Chief of Code Enforcement , and Leeann Mathews the Code Enforcement Investigator. We all use these services and with these three being in-county they can help guide us in the right direction to help us all continue to deliver the best and safest services to Preble County, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”
