EATON — After 10 years with the district, Priscilla Dodson participated in her final board meeting as Eaton Community Schools Treasurer on Monday, Dec. 14.
Dodson was spoken highly of by board President Lisa Noble. “On behalf of the Board of Education, I would like to thank Priscilla for her 10 years of service to Eaton Community Schools and for her dedication and contribution to our many building projects she has been involved with, and also in the capital improvements in her tenure as treasurer.”
“I want to say thank you to all of you,” Dodson, said at the meeting. “I told them (my staff) the best thing they could do for me and Eaton City Schools and our office is to make us all look good and believe me, they have.”
She added, “I have enjoyed it, I really have.”
“I’m going to miss the people, I love coming to work, and it’s never really been a job to me,” Dodson said of her time with the school district.
According to Dodson, she is most proud of the new building projects while at Eaton but quickly gave credit to her staff.
“It wasn’t just me, it was my staff. They took on some responsibilities because I was focused on other things.”
Her staff includes Jean Keller, Peggy Hayes, Susan Tintsman and Carla Kirsch.
Rachel Tait will take over for Dodson and Dodson gave the district’s new treasurer a word of advice for the job: “My motto is ‘Students are job one,’ even though money drives that, you still need to step back and realize what the real focus of what we do here is.”
Dodson’s career started when she became treasurer for the City of West Milton before taking the treasurer position in the Bradford School District where she began in 1993. She worked on a multi-million dollar building project there.
For Dodson, she says her retirement is the opportunity for a new adventure, one she will take with her husband of 50 years, Dick Dodson.
Dodson says she will concentrate on being a grandmother and a great-grandmother. You may also be able to find her a local hospital rocking newborn babies. “I’m probably going to volunteer at local hospitals and rock babies, if you can bottle that feeling of when you rock a baby, that’s the best feeling in the world. ”
