ESC preparing for new school year

EATON — The Preble County Educational Service Center, Alternative School, and Preschool are all preparing for next school year.

During the PCESC Board’s meeting on Wednesday, June 26, Alternative School Principal Brent Short and Preschool Supervisor Debby Barnett both reported on preparations for the upcoming school year.

According to Short, the Alternative School is just finishing up summer school and is preparing for the school year. Staff will be using their “all in” initiative again this year, urging students to dedicate themselves to their education and being responsible.

The Preschool is wrapping up the school year, holding summer evaluations, and preparing for next year. Barnett is planning a New Teacher Orientation, to welcome new staff members to the facility.

Assistant to the Superintendent Shawn Hoff shared, the AC went out at the building, but has been repaired since. He also discussed open positions and efforts to fill them.

In other business:

•The board approved an agreement with Cardinal Bus Sales & Services, Inc. for the purchase of two 84 Passenger Blue Bird school buses at cost of $96,649 per school bus. One bus will be purchased directly and the second will be leased through TCF Equipment finance over a period of four years at a rate of 4.5 percent and an annual payment of $25,780.19.

•The board approved a professional services contract with For Your Health to provide first aid, CPR, and AED training on June 5 at the Preble County ESC Alternative School for an in consideration of up to $750 based on participants, $75 per participant.

•The board approved annual membership with the Ohio ESC Association for the 2019-2020 school year at a cost of $2,423.

The next ESC Board of Education Meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 24, at 5:30 p.m.
