GRATIS — Gratis Firefighters Association held a Party in the Park on Saturday, July 13. The event included food, activities, music by Preble County Line, and a gun raffle.

According to Firefighters Association Treasurer Sarah Konnagan, the Party in the Park was a way for the association to give back to the community. The association combined forces with Gratis Fire Department, Gratis EMS, Gratis Police Department, MedFlight, Dayton Children’s Hospital, and Preble County Safety Committee to provide a free event to the community to show their appreciation.

“This is the first year we’re hosting this event. It coincides with the Summer Gun Raffle we are doing. We’re going to announce first place winner tonight. We decided to throw a party in conjunction with that and have fun,” she said. “We think it is important that the community knows we appreciate their support throughout the year, through fundraisers and support of public safety. We think it is important to give back to the communities that show us support.

“So far, we have seen a good turn out,” Konnagan added. “We are anticipating there has already been 100 people come through so far. We hope to host this event in the future. We have already been throwing around ideas about what we want to do for it next year. We’re excited. I would like to thank all of our sponsors for making this event possible. It has been overwhelming how much support we’ve gotten for this.”
