Lewisburg Council to vote on tax replacement versus renewal

LEWISBURG — During its meeting on Tuesday, July 2, Lewisburg Village Council held the second reading of both a proposed tax renewal and proposed tax replacement.

Only one of these levies will actually see the November election. Council will decide between the two levies during its meeting on Thursday, July 18.

Council also discussed crosswalks surrounding the Tri-County North.

Village Manager Jeff Sewert shared, the State Fiscal Budget monies have been used up so the village must wait for the next round to get funding for crosswalks. The application is already finished and ready to send to the State of Ohio.

The village is in the process of updating crosswalks, but lighting has already been updated.

In other business:

•Mayor Marsha Jones reported, she recently met with Ben Thaeler, with Congressman Warren Davidson’s office, and he gave her information on grant opportunities.

•Council waived all three readings for a resolution to adopt a tax budget for calendar year 2020.

The next Lewisburg Village Council meeting will be held on Thursday, July 18, at 7 p.m. in the Lewisburg Firehouse.
