Schedule changes in place this year

EATON —They say change is inevitable and this year fairgoers will see changes in the schedule of Junior Fair activities and shows.

In the fall, a committee conducted three focus groups to gather ideas about the previous schedule and look at ways to make changes to benefit the youth participants.

The result of those focus groups are the changes seen in the 2019 schedule. Fairgoers will also notice that there are no hogs on the grounds until Monday evening. At the recommendation of the State Fair Veterinarian with consideration of animal health, hogs will only be on the grounds for 72 hours. This means that while market hog exhibitors will be able to participate in the livestock sale on Friday, there will be no hogs at the sale.

Many show times have been adjusted as well as the actual days of the shows. A complete schedule can be found in the fair book or the small pocket size schedule available at the Senior Fair Board office.

One significant change will be the parade which will now be held on the last Saturday of the fair.

The parade will be a chance to showcase winners and wrap up a great week. The hog show, goat shows, poultry shows, the cook off/mystery mixer and 4-H style review have also been affected by the altered schedules.
