EATON — The Preble County Mental Health & Recovery Board (MHRB) is offering a Mental Health First Aid training (youth version). The training is for adults who regularly interact with youth but are not clinically trained. Register at: http://www.pcmhrb.org/mental-health-first-aid-usa.html.

This free training will be held at the Preble County Mental Health & Recovery Board, 225 N. Barron Street, Eaton, on Tuesday, Oct. 8, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. A lite breakfast, a manual, and lunch are all provided free as well.

Just as CPR helps you assist an individual having a heart attack, Mental Health First Aid helps you assist someone experiencing a mental health or substance use-related crisis. In this course, you learn risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction concerns, strategies for how to help someone in both crisis and non-crisis situations, and where to turn for help.

•Trauma

•Psychosis

•Substance Use disorders

Mental Health First Aid teaches about recovery and resiliency – the belief that individuals experiencing these challenges can and do get better, and use their strengths to stay well.
