EATON — On Dec. 14, 2019, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a Preble County Sheriff’s patrol deputy stopped a vehicle in the 400 block of Richmond Pike in Eaton for a marked lanes violation. During the contact with the driver, the deputy determined the driver’s Indiana driver’s license was under suspension.

During the stop, according to Sheriff Mike Simpson, the driver provided consent to search the vehicle. During this search, deputies located nearly 30 grams of suspected methamphetamine and digital scales behind the driver’s seat.

The driver admitted to the deputy he knew the drugs were in the vehicle, Simpson reported in a press release.

Deputies arrested David Dwayne Jones, 46, of Richmond, Indiana. Jones was charged with the following crimes in Eaton Municipal Court: aggravated possession of drugs, a second-degree felony; illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor, and traffic citations were issued for marked lanes violation and driving under suspension.
