Shelter Insurance opens in Eaton

EATON — Shelter Insurance, located at 200 N. Barron St., held its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony in conjunction with the Preble County Chamber of Commerce on Monday, Dec. 16. Agent Jordan Clapp is ready to help the Preble County community with home, life, and auto insurance needs.

Clapp recognizes a lot of business is done on the phone or computer these days, but he wants to provide an atmosphere where people can come in, talk to him, and deal one-on-one with someone who can help them directly.

“In today’s world, there is a lot of 1-800 calling, as far as getting a hold of someone for your insurance. I feel like my agency here does things a little unorthodox. I like to sit down and talk to people about their insurance policies, rather than them have to call a 1-800 number to get tossed around a hundred times,” he said. “That is one of the main goals here — when you’re part of the company, you’re family.”

Clapp was raised in the City of Eaton and wanted to bring his business to his hometown.

“I’ve always wanted to have something to call my own in Eaton and I’m definitely glad I opened up here,” he said.

He has been working as an insurance agent for approximately five years now. Through that experience, he has gained a lot of knowledge and a love for the customer service aspect of his job.

“I’m a very personable person and I love getting to know people and getting to help people,” Clapp said. “Helping people is one of my main goals.”
