Commissioners discuss date for Ball

EATON — The Preble County Board of Commissioner is looking at dates to bring back the Commissioners’ Ball for 2020.

During a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 8, Commissioner Denise Robertson asked to pick dates for the event, after verifying the board planned on hosting the event this year.

Commissioner Chris Day agreed, “We need to set a weekend so it is there forever and move on.”

Administrative Assistant Julie Miller was asked to contact Hueston Woods Lodge for dates in mid-to-late October. Commissioner Day asked her to look for dates earlier or later, if there were not many dates available in October.

“See what’s available both ways and we’ll figure it out,” Day said.

The board noted receipt of a Notice of Appearance of Counsel and Answer of Defendants referencing Case No. 19CV031854, Preble County Board of Elections vs. Rodney Creech, Chris Day, and Denise Robertson, Office of Preble County Commissioners.

Commission Clerk Kim Keller explained, “This is our required response.”

In other business, the board:

•Considered approval of a resolution authorizing an expenditure in the amount of $8,350 for prisoner housing in Mercer County.

•Considered approval of a resolution authorizing an expenditure in the amount of $8350 for prisoner housing in Wayne County.

•Considered approval of a resolution authorizing an expenditure in the amount of $3,500 to purchase two Microsoft Surface laptops, keyboards, docking stations, LTE cellular capability and warranties for Job and Family Services.

•Noted receipt of a letter from the engineer referencing the resignation of Timothy Cole.

•Noted receipt of a bid recommendation from the Department of Job and Family Services and further considered awarding the bid as recommended. The bid in question was referencing Net & Title XX Transportation Services for 2020 for Job and Family Services.

•Noted receipt of and considered approval by signing the Planned HVAC Maintenance agreement with Mechanical Systems of Dayton, Inc., $2,000, Engineer.

•Noted receipt of and considered approval by signing Amendment #1 to the Professional Services Agreement with the Simmons Group to extend completion date to the end of January.

Preble County Board of Commissioners meet every Monday and Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Preble County Courthouse, unless noted otherwise.
