EATON — During its meeting on Monday, Jan. 20, Eaton City Council recognized Silfex for its recent contributions to Whispering Christmas.

Council also recognized the 33rd anniversary of Fort St. Clair’s Whispering Christmas event and thanked the Whispering Christmas Committee and Lewis and Amber Willeford for their work on the event.

Not only has Silfex been an important corporate partner with the City of Eaton for over 10 years, but the company also awarded a grant to the city to make major improvements to Fort St. Clair’s Santa’s Cabin. Those improvements totaled $11,767.03.

According to city staff, this grant will allow the replacement of the kitchenette cabinets with granite counter tops and convert the fireplace into a gas log operation. The remaining funds will be used for miscellaneous materials.

Council approved and Mayor Gary Wagner presented a Proclamation of Thanks to employee Lewis Willeford and his wife Amber Willeford, who also serve as Whispering Christmas Committee co-chairs.

Council also recognized Whispering Christmas for its impact on the City of Eaton and all the volunteers and staff who help make the annual event possible. Specifically, council recognized the Whispering Christmas Committee and efforts of the Willefords, who have made many improvements to the event.

Council approved and Mayor Gary Wagner presented a Proclamation to the Willeford’s.

“We certainly appreciate all your effort and work. We had another great year. We had the addition of the Jingle Jog this year and we got a lot of compliments,” City Manager Brad Collins said.
