PREBLE COUNTY — Preble County Educational Service Center (ESC) Assistant Superintendent Shawn Hoff presented a Career Connections program update during the ESC Governing Board’s meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

Hoff began by telling the board a “nontraditional success story” he previously discussed, about serving a struggling student through the Career Connections program and him succeeding and flourishing.

Next, Hoff provided the board with a package and talked about the article published in The Register-Herald about Career Connections Director Harold Niehuas working with Lewisburg Container to adopt the Industrial Manufacturing Technician Apprenticeship program.

Hoff also talked about Niehaus’ work in the schools with the internship program there, job shadowing potential in the county, and other projects they have done to ensure student success.

Superintendent Mike Gray added, “What Harold Niehaus is doing for this county is just unbelievable.”

In other business:

•Board member Kevin Johnston reported on recent meetings and conferences he attended, including Board Officers 201 on Feb. 21.

•Superintendent Gray updated the board on Special Ed Advocates speaking in support of public school funding.

•Preschool Supervisor Debby Barnett reported on enrollment numbers and successful events.

Preble County Educational Service Center Governing Board will hold its next regular meeting on Wednesday, March 25, at 5:30 p.m. at the Preble County Alternative School, located at 201 E. Saint Clair Street, Eaton.
