ELDORADO – Eldorado Municipal Light, Sewer and Refuse electric customers who participate in programs offered through Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area (CAP) can receive five free CFL light bulbs and energy efficiency information, thanks to a partnership between CAP and Efficiency Smart.
With the new partnership, these eligible customers who participate in programs such as the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Work Ready, and Benefit Bank programs, are eligible for free CFLs. Those interested in programs available through CAP and the free CFLs can visit CAP’s office located at 308 Eaton-Lewisburg Rd. in Eaton, or call 937-456-2800.
Efficiency Smart, the Village of Eldorado’s partner in providing energy efficiency services to their electric customers, is providing the free CFLs.
Replacing incandescent lights with CFLs can help save on electric bills, as CFLs use 70 percent less energy and last up to 10 times longer than incandescent light bulbs. By replacing the five most frequently used incandescent light bulbs with the free CFLs, electric customers can save approximately $25 annually on electric costs.
Community Action Partnership of the Greater Dayton Area was established as a nonprofit corporation in December 1964. Since 1964, CAP has provided opportunities for low-income individuals and families to lead more productive lives through advocacy efforts, education, job training, employment and the provision of safe and affordable housing.
“Those who have the least amount of disposable income often spend the highest percentage of their income on their utility bills,” said Mani James, Community Outreach Manager for Efficiency Smart. “By partnering with CAP, we are able to provide additional resources to help lower the electric bills for those who need it the most, while helping to ensure that a larger percentage of Eldorado Municipal Light, Sewer and Refuse electric customers can take advantage of our services.”
