PREBLE COUNTY — As part of a major rehabilitation project on Interstate 70 in Preble County, bridge work over I-70 will require restrictions to be imparted on Ohio 320 and 726, with closure of both routes next month.

On Monday, Aug. 3, contractors will close Ohio 320, between West Eaton Road and U.S. 40, and then, on Thursday, Aug. 6, crews will close Ohio 726 between Orphans Road and U.S. 40 to begin construction there.

Both closures are scheduled to be in effect for up to 120 days, and while Ohio 320 is closed motorists will be detoured by way of U.S. 35, I-70 and U.S. 40 and Ohio 726 motorists will be detoured via U.S. 127 and U.S. 40.

The overall project includes resurfacing and repairing pavement on I-70 from the Indiana state line to the Montgomery County line, as well as rehabilitating and repairing bridges within the work limits and paving the rest area and weigh station.

The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract for approximately $29.8 million to complete the project, and all work is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2022.
