All-County band performs at Eaton

EATON — The 2016 Preble County all-county band concert was held on Friday, March 18, at the Performing Arts Center at Eaton Community Schools.

The concert consisted of a performance from both middle school and high school students. The middle school students are nominated by their local band director to participate and high school students must audition for the chance to play. Once the students are selected, they have two school days (approximately seven hours) to rehearse with the guest conductor. The band was extremely fortunate to have some great talent come and conduct for each band, according to organizers.

The high school band was under the direction of Dr. Kenneth Kohlenberg, a professor of music at Sinclair Community since 1987. The Junior High/Middle School Director was Chad Moniaci, the director of bands at Weisenborn Junior High School in Huber Heights.

Just before the final song was performed, all seniors were recognized. The following seniors received certificates:

Eaton — Andrea Bridgeford, Kyra Houle, Tyler Moses, Rebecca Noh, Grace Reynolds, Brianna Swartwout, and Mackenzie Weadick

National Trail — Jalisa Guenther, Suzanne Kimball, Kirstyn Richards, C.J. Wing

Preble Shawnee — Cailin Foriest

Tri-County North — Katie Finnigan, Jakob Herbert, Emily Jacoby, Gillian Mescher, Tucker Rother, AidanTomlin, Sean Tomlin

Twin Valley South did not have a graduating senior this year.

The all-county band is coordinated by the Preble County Educational Service Center. Thank yous go out to all the students that participated this year as well as all the parents and families who attended the performance. A special thank you is also shared with local band directors: Paul Bingle and Abigail Hinson (Eaton), Ross Runyan (National Trail), David Lewis (Preble Shawnee), Terra Moniaci (Tri-County North), and Garrett Smith (Twin Valley South).
