PREBLE COUNTY —We continue this month with our theme of Passion; and what a perfect time too, as Valentine’s Day is just a few days away! Maybe you will enjoy sending cards, receiving chocolates or flowers or arranging a lunch or dinner with a small group of loved ones.

Love is definitely in the air this month and a great time to remind you of the importance of heart health. What are you doing to maintain your heart health? Even though social distancing restrictions have kept us at home and much less mobile than we used to be, you can work on your heart health with us! We offer online Zoom classes that you can access from the comfort of your own home. Spend time with friends each week, get a bit of exercise and work on your heart health.

You do not have to be member to take advantage of these great classes and although the classes are designed for those 60+, we encourage everyone to join us. We offer Chair Yoga – Learn simple, gentle yoga poses while sitting in your chair in the comfort of your own home; Laughter Yoga – A modern exercise involving prolonged voluntary laughter aiding in stress reduction and improved immune system; Belly Dancing – Learn simple, easy and enjoyable belly dancing moves; Brunch with Holly – Grab a healthy snack and enjoy conversation with others; Oh the Places We Will Go! – Virtually visit and learn about locations around the state and beyond; Fitness Fun – Get up and get moving with this class and learn simple stretching and gentle fitness moves; and, coming in March – Dance Party!

Please check out all of the class offerings on our website www.PrebleSeniorCenter.org, click on the “Calendar” for all the dates and times. The classes are free for members and $5 per class for non-members. You will need to pre-register so don’t delay! Let’s work on our heart health together!

Severe Winter Weather

Please be prepared for severe winter weather. In the event that you have to go out, please remember to dress in layers, let someone know where you are going, and if possible, have a friend take you. If you do have to drive, be prepared with an emergency kit. If possible, get a few extra grocery items in the event that you cannot get out for a couple of days, and don’t forget extra water and pet supplies. Check on your friends and neighbors; a quick phone call can make a world of difference. Have your own emergency contacts information handy and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Decades Diner

Don’t forget that Decades Diner is open for carry-out, Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please remember to call at least 24 hours in advance with your congregate meal order. Be sure to check our website at https://www.facebook.com/preblecountycouncilonaging/ for the delicious menu selections from our regular menu.

Drive Thru Thursdays

Reminder! Drive Thru Thursdays! You do not want to miss this weekly event, and we want to see you! Stop by between 2-3 p.m. each Thursday for a special treat. The weekly treats are always a surprise. We don’t even know what the treat will be! When we run out though, we run out – so get out here! If you would like to sponsor one or more of our Drive Thru Thursdays, contact Stacey Fullmer at [email protected].

All activities originate from the Senior Activities Center at 800 East St. Clair St. in Eaton, via Zoom online classes unless otherwise mentioned in the post.
