Camden woman killed in weekend crash

SOMERVILLE — The Preble County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a one-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Camden woman this past weekend on Northern Road in Somers Township.

According to a release from the Preble County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Saturday, June 12 at approximately 4:30 p.m., and the preliminary investigation showed that a 2005 Ford Freestar minivan was traveling west of Northern Road when the driver lost control going around a curve. The vehicle then traveled off the right side of the road, striking a tree.

The right front passenger in the van, Erica Browne, age 24 of Camden, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and rear-seat passenger were transported to McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the release, Camden Fire & EMS, Gasper Twp. EMS and the West Elkton-Gratis Township Fire Department responded to the scene.

The crash remains under investigation by the Preble County Sheriff’s Office and the Preble County Coroner’s Office.
