Auditor presents monthly report

EATON — Preble County Auditor Lavon Wright presented her monthly report for May during a Monday, June 7, meeting of the Preble County Board of Commissioners.

According to Wright’s report, during the month of May, General Fund receipts totaled $802,994.31. Sales tax revenue for May totaled $566,314.97 from March sales. Local taxation came in at $56,599.20, charges for services at $86,815, interest at $26,723.06 and fines and forfeitures at $3,831.70.

Wright noted, the next casino tax funding will come in July, the 1-mill conveyance receipts totaled $18,828.90 and there were no expenditures.

According to Wright, the May General Fund disbursements totaled $997,701.54, and salaries, PERS and Medicare disbursements for May were $513,778.46.

Transfers for the month included the county’s share to the Agricultural Society in the amount of $2,400.

Total expenditures were $997,701.54 which included supplies ($36,893.54), health insurance ($91,474.57), contract services ($308,576.21), utilities ($9,856.27) training/travel, advertising/printing, and other expenses ($22,616.66).

According to Wright, the county’s General Fund began 2021 with a cash balance of $6,770,010.07 and ended the month of May with $7,787,959.76.

General Fund receipts for May 2021 were down from 2020 by $70,326.34. Sales tax was up by $84,847.33, charges for services were down by $10,342.14, and interest was down by $13,126.55

Wright’s report noted, expenditures for May 2021 were less than what they were in 2020 by $237,720.77. Supplies were down by $1,706.70, contracted services up by $21,421.67, other expenses were up by $6,153.35 and equipment was down by $434.86.

In other business

The board proclaimed June as Prostate Cancer Awareness & Education Month.

The board designated an administrative agent to the Preble County FCFC.

The board noted receipts of numerous letters, including two from the Ohio EPA regarding the second quarter inspection and scrap tires, and one from Aqua Ohio regarding an upcoming application to PUCO

The board also noted receipt of several zoning cases which will be heard on June 30.

The board noted receipt of a two court entries regarding notices of forfeiture of property and acquiring properties at 0 Whitewater Ave., New Paris and 0 Skodborg Drive, Eaton.

The board also noted receipt of the annual ditch inspection report from the Preble County Engineer.

The Preble County Board of Commissioners meet every Monday and Wednesday at 9 a.m. in the Preble County Courthouse. These meetings are open to the public.
