Oxford Kinetics Festival: ‘Circus Fracas’ coming

0

OXFORD — Less than two weeks until the circus is coming to town. The sixth annual Oxford Kinetics Festival: “Circus Fracas” will astonish the mid-west April 17, at Millett Hall.

Step right up to see jugglers, puppeteers, slackline walkers, and side shows galore! There will be art, science, and circus activities to experience throughout the day as well as performances and presentations from regional artisans, gifted wunderkins, and peculiar clubs. As ever, kids and family teams can race their kinetic contraptions in The Scramble for fame and glory while those 16-plus who think they have the kinetic “can do!” will compete in The Dogs’ Breakfast, a mighty race of Frankensteinian inventions.

Get culinary delights at food trucks from throughout the region making amazing fare from around the world, see experimental films being made on site, enjoy sarsaparilla at a bar for stilt walkers (and learn to stilt walk), see the strong-woman blacksmiths, cheer on the flying machines, and discover your destiny from the fortune tellers.

Go to www.oxfordkineticsfestival.org to sign up for the workshops offered leading up to the festival and register for races. Sunday, April 17, from noon-5 p.m. at Millett Hall in Oxford. It’s a day like no other on earth.
