Showman of Showmen, livestock sale highlight fair schedule

PREBLE COUNTY — The 171st Preble County Fair is winding down, but there are plenty of fun events left for attendees to enjoy through Saturday, Aug. 7.

Wednesday, Aug. 4 (Senior Citizen’s Day – 65 and older admitted for free)

In addition to junior fair events taking place throughout the day including poultry, horse and pony, and market swine shows, the Preble County Council on Aging will host the Senior Dance in the Expo Expansion from 5-8 p.m. Dirt Flat Drags will begin at 7 p.m. Grandstand tickets are $6, and infield tickets are $10.

Thursday, Aug. 5

The Toney Building will host a 4-H Cook Off beginning at 8 a.m., followed by a 4-H Mystery Mixer beginning at 1 p.m. in the same location.

Thursday evening will be host to multiple infield events, including the 6500# Stock Antiques Tractor Pull, beginning at 5:30 p.m., and the Truck & Tractor Pull, beginning at 7 p.m. For both events, grandstand tickets are $6, and infield tickets are $10.

Capping off the evening will be the Grand Showman of Showmen competition, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Expo Building and Horse Arena.

Friday, Aug. 6

Friday’s events will begin with the Jr. Fair Livestock Sale in the Expo Building and Bruner Arena beginning at 9 a.m.

Later in the day, there will be the Championship Draft Horse Pull in the Horse Arena at 7 p.m. Also beginning at 7 p.m. is a Jr. Fair Dance and Barn Games in the Rabbit Show Arena.

The day will end with the NTPA Regional Truck and Tractor Pull beginning at 7 p.m. Grandstand tickets are $8, and infield tickets are $12.

Saturday, Aug. 7

On the final day of the fair, the annual parade will begin on Cherry Street at 11 a.m., winding through Eaton before ending at the grandstand in the Preble County Fairgrounds. Festivities will end with another demolition derby beginning at 6 p.m. Grandstand tickets are $6, and infield tickets are $15.

7 p.m. – Market Beef Carcass Show (Expo)
