Two arrested following police chase in Eaton

EATON — A police chase through downtown Eaton which went viral on social media on Saturday, Sept. 18, led to the arrest of two individuals.

According to initial reports, an assault was reported at Walmart just after 7 p.m; the two who were later arrested, Lisa Belinda Jones, 36, and Jason Lee Gaulding, 43, both had theft from the store among the counts they were arrested for.

Multiple videos from bystanders shared shortly after on Facebook showed a vehicle evading police near the intersection of U.S. 127 and Deem Street by maneuvering through the parking lots of various businesses. Jones and Gaulding were later picked up at 9:23 p.m.

Eaton Police Division Officer John Nickell’s initial narrative said Jones was arrested for felony assault on a peace officer (two counts), felony vandalism (two counts),​ failure to comply,​ theft,​ possession of a controlled substance (two counts),​ possession of marijuana,​ ​possession of a drug abuse instrument,​ drug paraphernalia.

Counts for Jones concerning the chase though Eaton included driving under suspension,​ ​reckless ​operation,​ ​operation at stop sign,​ traffic control device (running a red light) and speeding.

Gaulding was also arrested for theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. At time of press, both remain in custody at the Preble County Jail.
