City of Eaton receives Auditor of State award

EATON — The City of Eaton was presented with an award from the Auditor of State Keith Faber during the city’s council meeting on Monday, Oct. 18.

The award was presented by Joe Braden, West Regional Liaison for Ohio Auditor of State Keith Faber.

According to Braden, the Auditor of State Award puts the City of Eaton in a very select group.

“The Auditor Of State’s office audits nearly 6,000 entities, and less than eight percent of them are even eligible for this award,” he said.

Braden added that the award is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of financial audits that meet certain criteria of a “clean” audit report.

Some of this criteria include filing reports in a timely manner, reports containing no findings for recovery, and generally following uniform guidance.

“This award represents the hard work of all city employees here in the City of Eaton,” Braden said. “I also want to recognize the mayor, council members, city manager, and everybody that has done an excellent job and county for all the dollars here in the City of Eaton and all their offices and departments.”

Braden also recognized City of Eaton Finance Director Stephanie Hurd for her “outstanding leadership, her professionalism, and her commitment to fiscal integrity.”

Mayor Joe Renner thanked the staff for their work.

“We appreciate very much all the work the staff does, and in this case particularly our finance director,” he said. “We were always fortunate to have good audits, we were always fortunate to have a good work from our staff, and I’m thankful once again.”
