EATON — On Monday, March 14, the Eaton Rotary Club held its 2022 “4-Way Speech Contest.”

Five Eaton sophomores presented their speeches to the club during its weekly meeting.

According to club members, the 4-Way Speech Contest offers students an opportunity to improve public speaking ability, and to develop many of the qualities and skills which build successful speakers, such as the ability to “read a room” and to use vocal inflections and cadences to emphasize important points and concepts.

Students speakers and their topics were:

• Alexia Morgan — Project Life, regarding a school-to-work opportunity for individuals with developmental disabilities.

• Delaney Deaton — Soil Infiltration, regarding the importance of soil infiltration.

• Morgan White — Livestock Management, regarding different methods in managing livestock.

• Robbie Blankenship — The Hidden Beauty of the Internet, regarding finding beauty in the exploration opportunities.

• Ally Schmidt — Jesus Lives, regarding Jesus Christ, the most famous person who ever lived.
