CAMDEN — Camden Village Council discussed a number of topics during a Thursday, April 7, meeting, including the filling of an empty seat, the nomination of a new council president, and formally accepting the resignation of former Mayor Karen Moss.

During the public participation portion of the meeting, Todd Angell made known to council his willingness to fill the newly emptied council seat created by the mayor’s resignation, as did Dr. Carla Risner. After a set period of days, council will discuss the candidates and come to a decision on who will fill the seat.

Councilwoman Judy Michael was nominated to assume the council presidency by members Kelly Doran and Debbie Hickman. The vote was unanimous, appointing Michael as the new Camden Village Council President.

Council also formally accepted the resignation of former Mayor Moss, by unanimous decision. Former Council President Toni Keesler is now acting mayor of Camden, allowing Michael to fill her role as council president.

Camden Village Council meetings take place the first and third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at Camden Town Hall.
