Auditor presents monthly financial report

EATON — Preble County Auditor Lavon Wright recently presented PC Commissioners her report for the month ending May 31.

During the month of May, according to Wright, the county’s General Fund receipts totaled $836,759.49.

Wright’s report also noted, sales tax revenue for May totaled $568,976.39 from March 2022 sales. Local taxation came in at $60,847.20, charges for services at $101,406.71, interest at $27,308.44, and fines and forfeitures at $4,262.43.

The 1-mill conveyance receipts totaled $20,235.40 and the expenditures for the month came in at $35,726.80.

Expenditures

According to Wright, May’s General Fund disbursements totaled $1,168,489.02.

Salaries, P.E.R.S. and Medicare disbursements for May were $550,328.43.

Transfers for the month included $21,000 to OSU Extension.

Total expenditures ($1,168,489.02) included: supplies ($41,334.86,) health insurance ($101,432.66,) contract services ($391,869.77,) utilities ($12,009.46) and training/travel, advertising/printing and other expenses ($30,434.50.)

Year-to-date

Preble County’s General Fund began 2022 with a cash balance of $8,943,589.65 and ended the month of May with $9,740,101.61, according to Wright.

2022 versus 2021 comparison

General Fund receipts for May 2022 were up by $33,765.18, according to Wright.

Sales tax was up by $2,661.42, charges for services were up by $14,591.71 and interest was up by $585.38.

Expenditures for May 2022 were exceeded 2021 by $170,787.48 according to Wright’s report. This included supplies being up by $4,441.32, contracted services up by $83,293.56, other expenses up by $6,437.68 and equipment being up by $1,863.33.
