Comic Con returns to Preble County

EATON — Preble County District Library hosted the return of the Preble County Comic Con on Saturday, June 4, at The Star Theatre in Eaton.

Attendees got to brush up on their comic books, movies, television, and pop culture as fans of all ages competed in a cosplay contest, submitted original artwork for the Community Art Display, played games, and took pictures with Star Wars characters.

“It actually started with our summer reading programs. So, we use it as either a kickoff or closing program,” said Sarah Tozier, Eaton Branch Library Manager and Youth Services Manager.

According to Tozier the idea fit with one of the summer reading programs and it was very popular, so now it is an annual event.

The event had been postponed for the last two years due to the pandemic but the library was very happy to finally hold the event for the community. However, even after the two-year break this was the fourth Comic Con by PCDL.

Tozier felt the event went very well.

“We’re excited with everyone coming out because this is our first event since Covid. And we’re just excited to see people out,” she said.

The Comic Con was organized with other businesses around the county including the Art of Stephen Baker, Dark Crescent Studio, The Gaming Goat, and Jim and Dan Comics. There was also tabletop gaming with Darkhold Games, superhero training for the little ones with Dixon Dance Xpress, and more.
