CAMDEN — The Preble County Park District (PCPD) announced last week the soft opening date for early access to its newest nature preserve park, the Herbert and Patricia Wagers Memorial Park (Devil’s Backbone), located on Old State Road 725 West in Camden, on Saturday, Aug. 27, at 10:30 a.m.

A nature hike will follow an informal ceremony. The official grand opening will be announced at a later date.

The Preble County Park District Commissioners welcome all members of the Preble County community as their special guests for this celebration of the “Wagers family’s generous donation of a nature preserve featuring the scenic Paint Creek, gorgeous cliffs, waterfalls, trails, wildlife, unique history and more,” PCPD officials said in a press release.

The release continues, “the Wagers family, as well as the Preble County Park District, promote “Take Only Memories and Leave Only Footprints,” supporting an unspoiled, litter-free and natural place for families to enjoy.”

The Preble County Park District Rules and Regulations designate the preservation and protection of the property maintaining the intent of the donation.
