EATON — At a Friday, Dec. 2, open house celebrating the retirement of longtime Preble County Chamber of Commerce Secretary Virginia Lindsey, Mayor Joe Renner presented a proclamation honoring the Eaton resident’s dedication to the local business community.

The proclamation noted:

“Virginia Lindsey joined the then Eaton Area Chamber of Commerce as Secretary on Jan. 15, 1995, bringing with her decades of experience in administrative skills and office management; and with nearly 28 years working with the chamber to help promote and support local businesses and chamber members, Virginia has become a staple in the local business world; she is a consistent leader in helping local businesses find resources and aided in the organization of countless Business Expos, Chamber Classic Scholarship Golf Outings, Annual Awards Galas, Legislative Events, After Hours activities and other events. During her tenure as secretary for the Preble County Chamber of Commerce she has nearly single-handedly helped keep the Preble County Safety Council moving forward in its efforts to promote safety in the workplace, saving members countless dollars in insurance and Workers Compensation premiums.

“Therefore, now be it resolved that I, Mayor Joe Renner, on behalf of the City of Eaton, do hereby wish to honor and recognize Virginia Lindsey for her dedicated service to the residents and businesses of Eaton and wish her well upon her retirement,” the proclamation concluded.

Lindsey recently announced her retirement, effective Friday, Dec. 16. During the open house on Dec. 2, State Rep. Rodney Creech, and Preble County Commissioners David Haber and Adam Craft also stopped in to honor Lindsey with proclamations.
