LEWISBURG — On Friday, Dec. 2, the Lewisburg branch of LCNB Bank, located on South Commerce Street in the village, was robbed, and two weeks later, the suspect was arrested after being located in Cincinnati.

At approximately 11:58 a.m. “a male subject entered the bank, handed a note to the teller instructing her to hand over money or there would be another mass shooting,” Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson said in a press release last week.

The teller handed over money and the suspect fled the bank with no one hurt, according to Simpson.

A photo of the suspect was distributed via social media the afternoon of Dec. 2.

“Investigators were able to develop a possible suspect vehicle and later received a tip from law enforcement in Cincinnati on a possible suspect,” the release continued. “Investigators from Lewisburg Police Department and the Preble County Sheriff’s Office conducted follow-up and were able to identify a suspect. The suspect was a frequent gambler at the Hard Rock Casino in Cincinnati and the Hollywood Casino in Dayton.”

On Friday, Dec. 16, while conducting follow-up in Cincinnati, investigators, with the assistance of Cincinnati PD, located the suspect, according to Simpson. “He was placed under arrest and housed in the Hamilton County Jail,” the release noted.

“On Monday, Dec. 19, the suspect, Timothy James Arnold, 44, of Cincinnati, was formally charged in Eaton Municipal Court with the following: robbery, a second degree felony; robbery, a 3rd degree felony and theft, a 5th degree felony.

Arnold had his initial arraignment in court and bond was set at $500,000 cash. Arnold remained in the Preble County Jail at press time.
