EATON — More than 1,000 members of 4-H, FFA, and FCCLA, competed in the junior division of the Preble County Fair, which wraps up Saturday, Aug. 6.
According to 4-H officials, the projects exhibited this week culminate a year of work for each youth organizations’ participants. Projects included the following: large and small animals, clothing, foods, and miscellaneous ranging from archery, electricity, collectibles, and woodworking, to rockets, first aid, creative arts, and natural resources. The FFA members also displayed large and small animals as well as shop and crop projects including toolboxes, cabinets, boot scrapers, flowers, vegetables, field crops, and more.
Prior to the week beginning, Junior Fair organizers expected approximately 1,500 animals, 50 food projects, 55 clothing projects, and more than 100 miscellaneous projects to be on display throughout the eight-day exhibition.
Those with livestock projects will participate in the Jr. Fair Market Livestock Sale on Friday, Aug. 5, at 9 a.m.
Still on the schedule for the Senior Fair this year are the Tug-a-Truck competition on Friday at 7 p.m. and the closing demolition derby, Saturday evening. The Preble County Idol finals will take place at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Kiddie Tractor Pull is slated to begin at 12:30 p.m. in the sheep arena.
