WEST ALEXANDRIA — Jury trial for a a 37-year-old West Alexandria mother arrested in May on charges relating to the death of her toddler son in December has been continued to Monday, Oct. 24, according to court records.

Christy Lynn Warwick faces charges including one count endangering children, a third-degree felony, and one count involuntary manslaughter, a first degree felony.

Trial in the case was originally scheduled for June 27, moved to July 25, then moved to Aug. 29, prior to the most recent delay.

A pre-trial conference scheduled for this Thursday, Aug. 18, was also vacated.

Preble County Sheriff’s deputies began investigating the death of the 21-month-old child on Dec. 13, 2015, after responding to a 5247 Lexington Road residence when Warwick called 9-1-1 “reporting that her son was unresponsive,” Sheriff Mike Simpson said earlier this year.

The boy, Sylas Warwick, was transported to the Preble County ER facility in Eaton, and later transferred to Children’s Hospital in Dayton, according to Simpson. He died on Dec. 14.

The death of Sylas Warwick was ruled a homicide due to blunt force trauma to the head.

The Preble County Sheriff’s Office continued its investigation and presented the case to a Preble County grand jury on Tuesday, May 3. The grand jury indicted Warwick for the crimes based on the evidence presented. A warrant was issued and she was arrested by deputies on Wednesday, May 4, and was housed in the Preble County Jail. Bond in the case was set at $10,000.
