Fall Story Time Registration (Eaton Library)
Registration is now open for the six-week sessions of story time at the Eaton Branch of Preble County District Library.
The library offers programs for age ranges from six months to 12 years.
The fall session will run from Oct. 5-Nov. 10.

West Elkton back-to-school donation drive
The West Elkton Library will be accepting donations of school supplies during regular hours (1-6 p.m.) on Sept. 7, 8, and 12. We’ll have bins set up to collect the supplies, which we’ll donate to the West Elkton Intermediate School to be distributed to students in need.
Tween Filmmakers Club
Do you want to make your own movie? If you’re between the ages of 8-12, be sure to register for the return of the library’s popular Tween Filmmakers Club. Work with other kids to write a script, build props, film, and edit a short movie! This program meets for four sessions on Sept. 7, 14, 21, and 28 at the Eaton Library from 4:15-5:15 p.m. each session.
We’ll have a viewing party for families on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 4:15 p.m. to show of the kids’ creation. Every child will also receive a DVD of the completed movie.

Kids: bring your favorite action figures to the West Elkton Library on Monday, Sept. 12 at 4 p.m., and we’ll make a parachute for them! All materials and snacks will be provided.
New Paris story time
Bring the kids (ages 11 and under) to the New Paris Library for a story and a craft. Story times will be Monday, Sept. 12 and Monday, Sept. 19 at 5 p.m. each day.
Family Fun Night
We’re getting ready for AppleFest at the New Paris Library with an apple craft and snacks on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 5:30 p.m.
Preble County District Library’s popular Homeschool Hour education program will start this school year on Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 3 p.m. at the Eaton Library. During this session, we’ll learn about different art techniques and use some of those skills to create our own works of art! The monthly program is for homeschool students and educators.
Celebrate Hobbit Day!
Sept. 22 is the birthday of Bilbo and Frodo Baggins, characters from J.R.R. Tolkien’s popular books The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings. At 5 p.m. the Eaton Library will host a birthday party for families complete with a birthday cake and Middle Earth music from Eric Loy.

Anime Club: Kawaii
Watch anime, try Japanese snacks, and make some Kawaii anime- and manga-inspired crafts on Tuesday, Sept. 6 at 3:30 p.m. For teens in grades 6-12. Spots are limited, so register in person at the library or call (937) 456-4331
Pokèmon Mini Con
Are you a big fan of Pokèmon? If you’re a teen in grades 6-12, come to the library for our Pokèmon Mini Con. You’ll play Pokkèn Tournament on the Wii U, challenge yourself with Pokèmon trivia, eat snacks, and make some Pokèmon crafts. Catch the Pokèmon Mini Con at the following branches:

(Limited to high school students in grades 9-12) On Monday, Sept. 12 at 5 p.m., the Eaton Library will host tabletop gaming, featuring Castle Ravenloft (a Dungeons and Dragons board game) and The Settlers of Catan. We’ll also design our own dice bag to take home! Game play can last up to two hours. Snacks will be provided.

The Eaton Library is kicking off the teen (grades 6-12) Write On! creative writing program series with an escape room challenge. You’ll have 45 minutes to solve all the clues and “escape.” Then stay for creative writing prompts, snacks, and talk with other teens about writing. Sharing your work is optional. Escape room will be Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 3:30 p.m. Registration is required. Register at the library or call (937) 456-4331.
Eaton library book sale
The Eaton Library book sale is happening now through Saturday, Sept. 17. Get there early for the best selection of fiction, nonfiction, young adult, and children’s books. The sale is during regular library hours (Mon.-Thur. from 9a-8p; Fri. and Sat from 9a-5p) at 301 North Barron Street. Items have no set prices. All sales are by donation only. Grab what you want and give as much as you can, as all proceeds go to the Eaton Branch Library.
Adult Henna Tattoos
The art of henna tattooing (also known as Mehndi) involves making decorative designs on the skin and staining the designs with henna made from the Egyptian evergreen plant Lawsonia Inermis. Henna designs may remain on the skin up to a month or more depending upon the method used. Join us at the Eaton Library on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. to create and apply your own henna tattoos. All supplies will be provided. Call 456-4331 or visit the Eaton library to register. A signed release form will be required to participate.
Did you know you can borrow e-books with your library card? In this class, you’ll learn to search the Ohio Digital Library and download library e-books with your e-reader. Bring your e-reader and any questions to the Eaton Library on Saturday, Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. Spots are limited, so register at the library or call (937) 456-5562.
Intermediate Computer Skills
You know the basics of computer operations. Now join us for a more in-depth look at the inner workings of the computer. Learn about storage devices, creating and saving documents, making new folders, and downloading and uploading data. Class is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 3 p.m. at the Eaton Library. Need help with your e-reader, writing a resume, searching for a job, using the library catalog, basic computer issues, or just about anything else? The Reference Librarian will be at the West Elkton Library on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 2-4 p.m. for one-on-one help. No appointment needed.

Mystery Short Story Challenge
Beginning Sept. 19, pick up your form for the Eaton Library’s Murder Mystery competition. Write a short story for a chance to win a mystery-themed prize pack. Stories will be judged on structure/plot, characters/dialogue, style, and uniqueness. Stories will be due on Oct. 19, and winners will be announced on Oct. 22 after the author visit by mystery author Heather Webber at 1 p.m.
