COLUMBUS — Recently, the National Trail MVCTC FFA Chapter attended the Ohio FFA State Convention held in Columbus, Ohio at the Ohio State Fairgrounds and Exposition Center. Prior to the kickoff of convention FFA members visited the Ohio State house and had a behind the scenes tour of the House of Representatives. National Trail MVCTC members had the opportunity to visit the house floor and act as voting members on a mock issue.

At state convention, several National Trail MVCTC FFA members were recognized on stage. During the first session, Sammy Hawkins sang the National Anthem. After the session started, the National Trail MVCTC Chapter was recognized as a gold medal chapter, this is the top 10 percent of all Ohio FFA chapters. The Secretary’s book completed by Casey Tomas, Treasurer’s book completed by Holly Lawson, and Reporter’s book completed by Cierra Rinehart each received a gold rating and were recognized for their hardwork and dedication

During the last session, National Trail proudly sent Mark Armstrong to participate in the Ohio FFA band. Teresa Creech, Cheyenne Gillett, Tabitha Shepherd, Kayla Lutz, and Madison Miller, all participated in the Ohio FFA chorus. The state degrees were handed out at the end of the session. National Trail MVCTC had six members receive this award: Tyler Glander, Erika Gallaher, Weston Haws, Grant Killen, and Casey Thompson.

The National Trail MVCTC FFA Chapter was also recognized for donations to Children’s Hospital, Ohio FFA Foundation, and Ohio FFA Camp Muskingum.

NTFFA elects new officers

The end of the school year means a new set of officers. As the retiring officers, prepare for the transfer. There is excitement in the air as end of the school year approaches. The retiring team included: President: Weston Haws, Vice President: Erika Gallaher, Secretary: Casey Thomson, Treasurer: Holly Lawson, Student Advisor: Tyler Glander, Reporter: Ceria Rinehart, Sentinel: Katie Buehner, Committee chair: Andrew Willett, Committee chair: Kelsey Matheny, Committee chair: Callista Kisling

As the year of 2017 and 2018 begins, the bar is set high for the new officers to lead the chapter into another successful year. The new officers of 2017 and 2018 have been chosen and revealed. The officer slate is President: Erika Gallaher, Vice President: Macel Stowers, Secretary: Sydney Miller, Treasurer: Rachel Kimball, Student Adviser: Dawson Ward, Reporter: Nathan Henning, Sentinel: Hunter Miller

The slate of the National Trail MVCTC FFA Chapter was accepted on April 7, as all members welcomed their new officers who will be serving in the year 2017 and 2018.

“I’m really excited for this year. We are planning a lot of new things and are looking to have a great year!” Erika Gallaher the new president for the National Trail MVCTC FFA chapter told the reporter. These officers took their positions on April 22, at the National Trail MVCTC FFA Banquet.
