EATON — The Skyline Chili in Eaton received several awards during a Skyline Corporate meeting in French Lick, Indiana last month.
Owners Josh and Tiffany Moreland took over the Eaton location in 2012. Josh said the three awards are a testament to the staff, “They are good people who want to make people have a good day, put a smile on someone’s face,” he said.
The location in Eaton received third place in the “Mystery Shop” award given to the locations with the best customer service. The local restaurant placed third out of 136 Skyline locations, but was the highest rated privately-owned location.
The store also received second place in the sales increase category out of the stores within the corporation which report sales.
Moreland noted a loyal customer base as a key reason why the store has been so successful. “We try to connect to our community through supporting local schools, veterans, sports and youth programs,” he said. “Our customers are very loyal, a lot of customers we feel our like family because we get to know them.”
The final award received by the restaurant was the “Luke Skywalker Award” which went to the store who is committed to the “Brand Promise.” Moreland said three or four other stores receive similar awards.
The brand promise according to Moreland is “being committed to providing every guest with a unique and uplifting experience that makes them feel good.”
Moreland, who is a lifelong resident and farmer in Preble County, said the award is an underdog story. “We’re humbled by it,” he said. “We kind of feel like we are an underdog coming from Eaton, compared to a lot of restaurants who are in a larger area with more population.”
This is the second time the location has received an award. It also received the “Mystery Shop” award in 2014 when it ranked second of all privately owned franchises in customer service.
Moreland said the staff of approximately 25 people celebrated the awards by having a cake party at the location in Eaton.
