EATON — The Preble County Development Partnership and the Preble County Chamber of Commerce are hosting a free workshop: Cyber Threats, How to Minimize Your Exposure, on Tuesday, June 7, from 8:30-10:30 a.m., at the Preble County Development Partnership office, 119 South Barron Street, Eaton.

Secure Cyber Defense is a local cyber security-focused firm assisting individuals and organizations with identifying cyber risk, constructing security policy and monitoring for cyber threats. This two-hour session will encompass the following areas:

• Current cyber threats

• How to minimize your exposure to Internet security threats

• Five things any organization needs to do to protect themselves now

• What you need to know about cyber insurance

• The basics of an incident response plan

• How Target was hacked, and more.

Shawn Waldman has traveled the United States teaching and writing content for conferences surrounding IT and cyber related issues. He spent five years deep in the FBI’s CJIS compliance framework and ended up writing training curricula for other agencies and vendors, showing them how to be compliant and how to interpret the policy. Waldman has developed a proprietary auditing foundation for companies providing vulnerability assessments against multiple industry compliance standards resulting in a very in-depth and complete report on IT risk.
