MVCTC Class of 2016 scholarship winners announced

DAYTON — The Miami Valley Career Technology Center (MVCTC) Class of 2016 scholarship winners were announced on Friday, May 13, during the Senior Recognition Ceremony at the Wright State University’s Nutter Center.

More than 600 students qualified with grades and attendance to participate in the Senior Recognition Ceremony. During the ceremony, students receive their Career Passport. The Career Passport is awarded to students that successfully complete their MVCTC career program with good grades, good attendance, and the ability to demonstrate competencies in their career program. The Career Passport complements the high school diploma that is earned while at MVCTC. Students receive their high school diploma from the partner school district they attend.

In addition to Career Passports being awarded during the Senior Recognition Ceremony, several MVCTC students were announced as recipients of the 2016 MVCTC Department, Foundation, and Employee Association scholarships. The students receiving scholarships include:

• Jessica Koker, Veterinary Science student from Tri-County North, recipient of the $500 MVCTC Foundation Agriculture Department Scholarship.

• Scot Kirby, Sports Marketing student from Miami East, recipient of the $500 MVCTC Foundation Business and Information Technology Department Scholarship.

• Hayley Roberts, Allied Health student from Arcanum, recipient of the $500 MVCTC Foundation Health and Consumer Sciences Department Scholarship.

• Brooke Owens, Allied Health student from New Lebanon, recipient of the $500 MVCTC Foundation Humanities Department Scholarship.

• Logan Dickison, Natural Resource Management student from Milton-Union, recipient of the $500 MVCTC Foundation Math and Science Department Scholarship.

• Austin Dougherty, Graphic Commercial Art student from Preble Shawnee, recipient of the $500 MVCTC Foundation Trade and Industrial East Department Scholarship.

• Anthony Jacobs, Criminal Justice student from Tri-County North, recipient of the $500 MVCTC Foundation Trade and Industrial South Department Scholarship.

• Lucas Gauldin, Game Programming and Web Applications student from Franklin Monroe, recipient of a $500 MVCTC Employees’ Association Scholarship.

• Jordan Puckett, Game Programming and Web Applications student from Eaton, recipient of a $500 MVCTC Employees’ Association Scholarship

• Danielle Dalrymple, Criminal Justice student from Carlisle, recipient of a $2,000 Treva and Robert Sidle Scholarship

• Bryant Fox, Business Ownership student from Ansonia, recipient of a $2,000 Treva and Robert Sidle Scholarship

• Alayna Miller, Allied Health student from Brookville, recipient of a $2,000 Treva and Robert Sidle Scholarship

• Lauren Muncy, Veterinary Science student from Eaton, recipient of a $2,000 Treva and Robert Sidle Scholarship

• Shad Ream, Robotics and Automation student from Vandalia-Butler, recipient of a $2,000 Treva and Robert Sidle Scholarship

• Erica Bell, Graphic Commercial Art student from Miamisburg, recipient of the $1,000 Dale Baughman Scholarship

The MVCTC Class of 2016 Valedictorians are Erica Bell (Graphic Commercial Art/Miamisburg), Macey Dennison (Veterinary Science/Tri-County North), Bryant Fox (Business Ownership/Ansonia), and Alexandria Pompeii (Aviation Maintenance/Northmont). The MVCTC Class of 2016 Salutatorian is Taylor Tucker (Dental Assistant/Tri-County North).

In total over $3.2 million worth of scholarships were earned by the MVCTC Class of 2016. This includes 703 students earning a $3,000 Tech Prep Scholarship to Sinclair Community College, totaling over $2.1 million.

For over 40-years, MVCTC has been providing career technical education for 27 partner school districts encompassing five counties in Southwest Ohio. MVCTC is dedicated to providing in-demand workforce training for youth, adults, and organizations in the Miami Valley.
