Carole Anne Burkett

Carole Anne Burkett, Eaton, was among 548 graduates awarded diplomas at Denison University’s 175th commencement ceremony, which was held Saturday, May 14. Burkett was awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree from Denison by President Adam Weinberg.

Burkett earned a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in English writing and a minor in classical studies. She was recognized as a consistent dean’s list student and was a member of Eta Sigma Phi, the national classics honorary. She was a recipient of the Danner Lee Mahood Award for Creative Nonfiction, the Estelle King Van Beuren Endowed Memorial Scholarship, the Distinguished Leadership Award, the National Merit Scholarship, the Mary H. Catherwood Scholarship, and the Paschal Carter Scholarship. Her senior project was titled “Words from the Speechless.” Burkett was also recognized as a summer research scholar; her summer project was “Narrative Holes: The stories Herodotus Didn’t Write.” She was a member of the Denisonian student newspaper, the Exile and the Writer’s Club where she served as the club’s president. She plans to intern at Virginia Quarterly Review.
