Buckeye Bridge Ride

The 12th annual Buckeye Bridge Ride to benefit 4-H in Preble County will take place Saturday, June 27. The bicycle ride around Preble County and across all eight covered bridges includes five routes, with the timed event beginning at 7 a.m. at the Eaton High School Athletic Complex near the football field. Eaton Paving Project:

A paving contractor working for the city will be paving six streets during the course of the next several weeks as part of the annual street improvements. The affected streets are: Evergreen, Elmwood, Amelia, Frederick, Woodale, and Apple.

Later this summer, Barron Street will be paved through an Ohio Department of Transportation project. This project will go from the north corporation limit to the south corporation limit. The project is scheduled sometime between now and Sept. 25.

Retire/rehire hearing

The Twin Valley Community Local Board of Education has announced that Darcy Robinson, currently employed as Health/Physical Education teacher, will be retired and is seeking re-employment with district in the Health/Physical Education position for the first semester of the 2015-16 school year. The board will hold a public meeting on the issue of re-employing Robinson at a meeting to be held on Monday, June 30, at 6:30 p.m, in the Twin Valley Schools’ Media Center.

Road closure

Beginning Tuesday, June 16, Shurley Road between Ohio 726 and Monroe Central Road will be closed for a full bridge replacement for six weeks.

Rezabek office hours

State Representative Jeffery Rezabek (R-Clayton) will be holding office hours in Preble County to discuss recent legislation in the Ohio House and to hear constituents’ ideas and concerns.

The office hours will be held Saturday, June 27, from 1 p.m. to about 4 p.m. at the Eaton Library 301 North Barron Street, Eaton.

All residents of the 43rd House District are welcome to attend, and no appointments are necessary. If unable to attend, Rep. Rezabek encourages constituents to contact his office by phone at 614- 466-2960 or by email at [email protected].

Eaton-Lewisburg closure

The Preble County Engineer’s Office will be resurfacing Eaton-Lewisburg Road from Eaton City limits to Wysong Road during the 2015 paving program. Before the road can be resurfaced, several drainage tiles will need to be replaced under the road in that area. The road will be closed daily as weather permits, from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., beginning June 15, until all tiles have been replaced. There will be open cuts across the road so no traffic can be accepted during the daily closures. Call 937-456-4600 for additional information.

Somerville budget

The 2016 budget for the Village of Somerville, Butler County, is now available for public review. The Budget Hearing will be held July 6, at 7 p.m. at the Somerville Village Hall, 146 Main Street, Somerville, OH 45064. Email inquiries to [email protected] or call 513-255-2501.

Somers roadside spraying

Somers Township will be spraying the township roadsides the month of June. Cemetery arrangements should be removed by the middle of July for mowing and maintenance.

Camden Craft Club Breakfast

Every third Saturday from 7-11 a.m., there will be an “all-you-can-eat” breakfast in the Camden Masonic Dining Room (above the Camden library). The meal will consist of sausage, biscuits, gravy, pancakes, apples, potato casserole, orange juice, and coffee. The meal will cost $6 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. A chairlift is available on location to help attendees reach the second floor.

PCSWD meetings

Third Wednesday of each Month- The Preble Soil and Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors conducts monthly Board Meetings at 7 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month at the Preble SWCD Office, 1651 N. Barron St., Eaton. Meeting dates for 2015 will be: July 15, Aug. 19. Sept. 16, Oct. 21, Nov. 18, Dec. 16.

PCDL meetings

The Preble County District Library Board of Trustees 2015 meeting dates are as follows: July 27, Aug. 24, Sept. 28, Oct. 26 and Nov. 23. All meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. at the PCDL Administration Office, located at 450 S. Barron St. in Eaton.

TCN meetings

The Tri-County North Board of Education has announced that the regular board meetings for 2015 will be at 7:30 p.m. each month in the Tri-County North Lecture Room, except for the June meeting, which will be in the district office conference room, and the July meeting, which will be at the Verona United Methodist Church.

The meeting dates are as follows: June 29, July 20, Aug. 17, Sept. 21, Oct. 19, Nov. 16 and Dec. 21.

TCN Summer Office Hours

Tri-County North Local Schools will be operating on an extended day/shortened week work schedule this summer. Through July 30, the hours of operation will be 6 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with the exception of the week of June 29. The week of June 29, the hours of operation will be 6 a.m.-2 p.m. due to the holiday. The building will be close every Friday. Regular hours of operation will resume on Monday, Aug. 3. Twin Township meetings

The Board of Twin Township Trustees will have their regular monthly meetings on the second Tuesday of each month. The meetings will be at 1251 Ohio 503 North in West Alexandria at 6 p.m. Notices of any special, emergency or executive meetings will be posted at the Township House on the bulletin board at the front of the building. The public is welcome to attend the meetings.

Drug recovery

The 7-Pillars Drug Recovery Program will meet at 7 p.m. each Monday night at 705 N. Barron Street in Eaton. For more information, call 1-801-SET-FREE.

Parkinson’s Support Group
