Editor:

Welcome to October, a month shaping up to be an exciting, busy one for the Preble County Chamber of Commerce. Not only do we have a monthly Breakfast Briefing (celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month at L&M Products) on the calendar for Oct. 17, but we also have two Business After Hours events: Thursday, Oct. 11 at Larkin Cobb Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Thursday, Oct. 18 with the Preble County Art Association.

We also have our first-ever State of the Nation Breakfast set for Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 7:30-9 a.m. in L&M Products’ Wagner Community Center.

Another very important fact about October is the month also opens the nomination period for the PC Chamber’s annual awards.

When it comes to businesses large and small, Preble County is a shining star in Ohio – we have everything from world headquarters for corporations to “mom-and-pops” who strive each day to better themselves and their hometowns.

In a world where we hear so often of all the negative, it is time to share and recognize the good being done by our businesses and workforce here in Preble County. Your businesses have stepped up, and now the Preble County Chamber of Commerce is stepping up to honor even more local superstars.

We need your help!

On Friday, Dec. 7, the Preble County Chamber of Commerce will honor the nominees and award winners selected during our 37th annual Awards Dinner & Holiday Gala. As many of you who attended found out last year, this event is about the people, businesses, and organizations who make Preble County proud. It is a fantastic night to recognize outstanding people.

But, without your input, we can’t always know who is truly deserving. It’s your job to let us know.

Awards to be given this year include: Outstanding Corporate Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Small Business Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year, Outstanding Agribusiness of the Year, Young Professional of the Year, Community Improvement Award, Distinguished Service Award, Non-Profit Innovation Award and the Ray Potter Legacy Award.

Nomination forms are vailable on our website, www.preblecountyohio.com, and at our office. Each form includes details regarding the criteria for selecting each award.

Deadline for nominations is Thursday, Nov. 1.

Please help us honor Preble County’s best!

Leslie Collins
