The time I have spent working at the Preble County District Library has shown me the impact a local library can have on a community. The branches of the Preble County District Library mean much more to the community than simple book depositories. I have seen countless teens spend afternoons playing on the computers and young children whisked off to far away lands during story times. The makers space at the Eaton branch has allowed children to live their dreams of becoming engineers or scientists. The summer reading program has encouraged students to continue reading during their long summer breaks.
The library has been fortunate enough to bring penguins, and soon sharks, to several of the library branches. The homebound services offered through the library allow the members of our community that cannot easily leave their homes the ability to connect to the outside world.
A Preble County District Library card gives much more than access to books, the library card opens up the world.
On Nov. 5, the residents of Preble County have the opportunity to show their public libraries their support by voting yes on Issue 13. The 1 mill replacement levy will allow for current programming to continue and for new programming to become a reality.
Please join me in supporting the Preble County District Library.
