All of the Preble County Relay For Life Teams, American Cancer Society Staff Members along with myself would like to thank everyone who participated and donated in the Relay For Life event at the Preble County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 11th. Thanks to all for your monetary donations and donations of gifts that were raffled to raise money for cancer research. We want to thank Brittany Bowling for singing the National Anthem, Pastor David Spears from Calvary Baptist Church in West Alexandria for doing the opening ceremony invocation and cancer survivor Christopher Martz for his opening ceremony speech.

Also, thanks to Doug Green for being in charge of the music, the Fairgrounds committee for letting us use their facility, Eaton City Schools for letting us use Bruce School for meetings, Darian Rader for leading the event and the leadership team for planning the event. Thanks, also, to regional staff members Alice Lajeunesse and Kelly Barney. Thanks to Kroger, Marsh, Somerville Bank, Wal-Mart and Linda Taylor for their help in catering the food for the survivor luncheon and Crista Marsh, Andrea Marsh, Caitlin Marsh, Amber Lohrey, Laurie Taylor and Samantha Gregg for their help with serving the luncheon and cleanup. Thanks to Walgreens for passing out water and the sheriff’s office for letting us use their dunk tank.

Right now with what has been donated and confirmed sponsorship to come, The American Cancer Society for Preble County is projected to receive $34,281, which would be around $600 shy of their goal. Donations can be made year round. Aug. 31 is the deadline to reach the event season goal. All donations are greatly appreciated. Please visit the website at for more information. Everyday, someone is diagnosed with cancer. Thanks again for helping us fight the fight and for making this event a huge success!
